1940 VFA Season

These are the results for the 1940 season of the Victorian Football Association (currently known as the Victorian Football League).

It featured twenty rounds. It should be noted that teams did not necessarily play their matches following the same order as the nominal round numbers of those matches this season. Williamstown were the minor premiers.

The season ended with a finals series following the Page-McIntyre system. Port Melbourne were the premiers, with Frank Kelly as the premiership captain-coach.
